Marc Zwingelberg, born in 1993, received his first trumpet lessons from Christian Pöndl and, a few years later, continued his studies with Jens Böcherer, principal trumpet at the Staatstheater Karlsruhe. After moving from Mannheim to the University of Music in Detmold, he completed his Bachelor’s degree there under Prof. Klaus Bräker. He subsequently earned his Master’s degree with highest honors under Prof. Tobias Füller in Lübeck.
He received further important musical inspiration from Reinhold Friedrich, Markus Klein, Hannes Läubin, Frits Damrow, and Matthias Höfs.
Regular engagements as guest principal trumpet have led him to perform with the Berlin Philharmonic, the Dresden Staatskapelle, the Frankfurt Radio Symphony (hr-Sinfonieorchester), The Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, the Iceland Symphony Orchestra, the Bamberg Symphony, the Hamburg State Opera, the Rheinland-Pfalz State Philharmonic, the Sønderjylland Symphony Orchestra, the Northwest German Philharmonic in Herford, the Jena Philharmonic, and the Kiel Philharmonic Orchestra.
Since October 2017, Marc Zwingelberg has been a scholarship holder of the Oscar and Vera Ritter Foundation, the Society of Friends and Sponsors of the University of Music Detmold (GFF), and a recipient of the merit-based scholarship of the OWL Studienstiftung. He is also a prizewinner of the Andrejs Jurjāns VI International Wind Competition in Latvia and of the Handel Society Karlsruhe.
Since October 2017, he has held a guest position as principal trumpet with the Armenian National Philharmonic Orchestra and served as associate principal trumpet of the Schleswig-Holstein Symphony Orchestra from 2018 to 2022. In summer 2020, he was awarded the German National Scholarship. Since 2022, Marc Zwingelberg has been principal trumpet of the Norddeutsche Philharmonie Rostock.
In recent years, he has traveled as a guest lecturer to Italy, France, Taiwan, the United States, and Latin America. His motto is: The only limits we have are the ones we set ourselves.
In August 2025, he began his Doctor of Musical Arts at the Butler School of Music at the University of Texas at Austin under Prof. Caleb Hudson.
